Replication for availability/sustainability:
Distributed storage systems must ensure the availability and durability of data, despite the presence of faults. To this end, many systems rely on replication. First, we give an overview of the major families of replication mechanisms then we present RelaxDHT, our solution which allows us to relax the placement constraints of the distributed hash tables in order to improve churn resistance. We then analyze the impact of the distribution of data on the effectiveness of coping mechanisms repair, and therefore on the reliability of the repair system.
storage RelaXDHT: relax DHT placement constraints:
Distributed Hash Tables (DHT) are services distributed storage that uses a structured overlay based on key-based routing protocols (KBR). DHTs provide the system designer with a powerful abstraction for persistent storage over a large zone, hiding the complexity of network routing, replication, and fault tolerance. Therefore, DHTs are increasingly used for reliable and secure applications
such as backup systems, distributed file systems, multi-range query systems, and content distribution systems. In a DHT, each peer and each block of data are assigned a key. the key to a block of data is usually the result of a hash function performed on the block.
The goal of this work is to design a DHT that tolerates a high churn rate without performance degradation.
To do this, we avoid copying blocks of data when not required to restore a replica missing. We introduce a replication based on a flyer that eases the placement constraints in the leaflet. Our solution, named RelaxDHT, is presented afterward.
How RelaxDHT works: RelaxDHT is built on a KBR layer such as Pastry or Chord. Our design decisions are to use the location metadata of the replicas and to separate them from data block storage. We keep the concept root peer for each block of data. However,
the root peer does not necessarily store a copy of the blocks of which it is the root. It only keeps the metadata describing the replica set and periodically sends messages to the replica set peers to ensure that they continue to store their copy. It is possible, but not required, for a peer to be both root and part of the set of replicas of the same data block. The user location metadata allows a replica to the data block to be anywhere in the sheet set; a new peer can join a leaf set without necessarily inducing data block migrations.
I like this web blog it’s a master piece! Glad I noticed this

My relatives all the time say that I am killing my time here at web, except I know I am getting experience everyday by reading
thes fastidious articles.
Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of
any widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet
my newest twitter updates. I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for
quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look
forward to your new updates.
I think the admin of this site is really working hard in favor of his site, because
here every material is quality based data.
Can you tell us more about this? I’d want to
find out some additional information.
Hmm it appears like your site ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just
sum it up what I had written and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog.
I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still
new to everything. Do you have any points for beginner blog writers?
I’d definitely appreciate it.
If you would like to increase your knowledge only keep
visiting this web site and be updated with the most recent information posted here.
Yes! Finally someone writes about 1668.
Hi there, I enjoy reading through your post. I wanted to write a little comment to support you.
My family all the time say that I am wasting my time here at web,
but I know I am getting experience all the time by reading such good content.
Hi there! This is my first visit to your blog!
We are a group of volunteers and starting a new project in a community
in the same niche. Your blog provided us valuable information to work on. You have done a marvellous job!
I like it when people come together and share thoughts. Great website, continue the good work!
I like the helpful info you provide in your articles.
I will bookmark your weblog and check again here frequently.
I am quite certain I’ll learn a lot of new stuff right here!
Best of luck for the next!
This design is wicked! You certainly know how to
keep a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to
start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Great job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
